I found this article interesting and informative. I thought the term "performance management" was only used to refer to behavioral approaches to organizational performance improvement. I was unaware that I-O psychologists also use the term as a synonym for traditional performance appraisals.

Also, I agree with the authors' recommendations that we combine the strengths of both approaches in order to create the best system for our clients. Lastly, the authors' mention that the field of OBM can improve by exposing our practitioners to other disciplines. I agree with this and believe it would improve the quality of our interventions. We do not necessarily have to adopt their principles but we can learn how to address larger organizational issues using ours.
